Timeline
1937

Butler-Wyatt-Thompson Jr. Clubhouse #2 traces its roots back to 1937, when it was established as the Metropolitan Police Boys Club. Funded by the District of Columbia, the Club was created to provide young people with a safe environment where they could develop character, discipline, leadership, and positive relationships with law enforcement through athletics, mentorship, and educational programming.
As the needs of the community evolved, the organization expanded to serve both boys and girls, becoming known as the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Club. For decades, the Club remained a cornerstone of youth development in Washington, D.C., positively impacting generations of young people.
2013

In 2013, Butler-Wyatt-Thompson Jr. Clubhouse #2 faced one of the greatest challenges in its history when the organization was at risk of closing its doors due to financial difficulties.
Through the dedication of community leaders, supporters, alumni, families, and donors, the Clubhouse secured the funding needed to remain open.
Their collective effort preserved a vital resource for Washington, D.C. youth and ensured that future generations would continue to have a safe place to learn, grow, and succeed.
Rather than becoming the end of the Clubhouse's story, 2013 became the beginning of a new chapter.
PRESENT DAY
